Meeting of His All Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch with His Excellency the President of Ukraine

His Excellency Mr. Victor Yushchenko, the President of Ukraine, arrived in Istanbul. Accompanied by his associates, the President proceeded to the Patriarchal Residence in Tarabya, where he visited His All Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew.

Between the two leaders, who are united by their friendship, a cordial and whole-hearted discussion on issues of common concern took place

On behalf of the Ecumenical Patriarchate were present at the Presidential visit:  His Eminence Metropolitan Emmanuel of France and V. Rev. Elpidophoros Lambriniadis, Chief Secretary of the Holy and Sacred Synod, both of which represented the Ecumenical Patriarchate on previous ecclesiastical missions to Ukraine.
