UOL Lenten Retreat in Bethlehem, PA!
On March 24th, 2012, clergy, UOL members and guests gathered in Bethlehem, PA for the Ninth Annual UOL Lenten Retreat to learn more about the Services of Great Lent. Faithful from Allentown, Carteret, Coatesville, Johnson City, Maplewood, Northampton, and Philadelphia gathered to learn more about their faith.
The participants were blessed to have His Grace Bishop Daniel attend and speak at the Retreat. The Retreat, entitled “Follow Me,” encouraged participants to reflect on their Lenten journey.
Saturday morning started with morning prayers and a strict Lenten breakfast. His Grace Bishop Daniel was the first speaker and focused on St. Andrew’s Canon. He also spoke later in the day on the commitment needed to be a Christian and focused on Holy Thursday. Father Myron spoke eloquently on the Prayer of St. Ephraim and helped those at the retreat understand the true beauty of this prayer.
In the afternoon the retreat participants were inspired by the words of Mother Raphaela who spoke about the Journey of Lent. Following the speakers the retreat participants were able to test their knowledge with some puzzles and games that focused on the retreat topics. It was a beautiful spiritually uplifting day.
