On St. Thomas Sunday, May 12, 2013, prior to the Divine Liturgy at St. Vladimir Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral, Parma, Ohio, and following two months of preparation, Mykola Logvyniuk and Alexander Schillling were blessed for the first time to wear Altar Boys’ robes. Special prayers were read in front of the Iconostas before the boys put on their robes. At the conclusion of the Liturgy, the clergy presented the boys with Icons from the Senior U.O.L. chapter as a remembrance of this special day.
On that day, Fr. Michael Hontaruk, assistant pastor, and his wife, Panimatka Anna, were honored on the occasion of his 10th anniversary of ordination and 5th anniversary of his assignment to St. Vladimir Cathedral.
On the occasion of Mother’s Day, all mothers were given flowers from the Sunday School and Panimatka Ann Hankavich was presented with 2 dozen roses for her over 60 years of dedicated service to our Holy Ukrainian Orthodox Church as a Panimatka.
The annual parish Spilne Sviachene dinner was held in the parish center following the Liturgy. During the dinner, the parish Brotherhood presented its annual “Man of the Year” award for 2012. This year’s recipient was Mr. John Norka. A dedicated member of St. Vladimir’s, Mr. Norka served on the parish Board of Trustees for many years, including a term as Board President. He is also active in the Brotherhood and Pyrohy Group and is truly worthy of this award.
