His Eminence Metropolitan Antony joined Cardinal Dolan of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New York, as he honored Archbishop Elpidophoros of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America at a luncheon on September 4, 2019, welcoming the newly appointed Exarch of the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople in New York.

Following the initial introductions and warm greetings, Metropolitan Antony joined Cardinal Dolan and Archbishop Elpidophoros as both hierarchs exchanged remarks. The Cardinal expressed his desire for each to be present at major events and holidays of the other, and the Archbishop agreed that cooperation and exchange are essential for mutual Christian witness.

At the conclusion of the lunch, the hierarchs in attendance escorted Cardinal Dolan and Archbishop Elpidophoros into St. Patrick’s Cathedral. A short welcoming prayer was offered by Archbishop Auza, the Papal Nuncio to the United Nations.
